You supply the vessel, complete the repairs or deliver the bunkers. When payment fails to follow, the debtor, the vessel and the relevant assets may already be in different countries.
We help maritime businesses pursue outstanding claims internationally. We assess who is liable, where recovery may be possible and what steps are commercially justified, then coordinate the work with expert lawyers in the relevant jurisdictions.
Our work can include demands and settlement negotiations, vessel arrest or other security where legally available, court or arbitration proceedings, and enforcement of judgments or awards. The route depends on the claim and the assets available.

Claims for shipyard work, repairs, maintenance and technical attendance, including disputes over the scope of work, acceptance and payment.
Outstanding claims for bunkers and lubricants, with attention to the contracting parties, supply terms and potential routes to security and recovery.
Assessment and coordination of vessel arrest, other protective measures and enforcement, where the applicable law and the facts permit. We consider practical recovery prospects alongside the legal merits.
Cross-border assistance for lawyers who need action outside their own jurisdiction. We work alongside instructing counsel and coordinate local steps within an agreed scope.
WHY WORK WITH US
A legal entitlement is the starting point. Recovering payment also means understanding the shipping business, identifying the right debtor and acting in a jurisdiction where the claim can make a difference.
Shipping claims have their own complications: owners, charterers and managers may be different entities, and a vessel may change hands. Our maritime experience helps us ask the right questions, investigate in a proper way and consult with the local experts before committing to a course of action.
Having almost two decades of experience as practicing maritime lawyers, we have the know-how and the network to help us get the job done. We coordinate with local counsel where action is needed, keeping the overall strategy in view rather than leaving you to manage disconnected proceedings in different countries.
The amount at stake, available assets and likely cost of proceedings should shape the decision. We discuss the proposed scope and costs before action, and consider negotiation where it offers a sensible route to payment.
A vessel's movements or a proposed sale may affect the available options. We consider those developments from the outset and assess whether urgent protective action is justified and legally available.
Our focus is the recovery of your claim, with a clear explanation of the options and the risks at each important stage.
